About this file
This document is an Addendum to Invitation to Bid No. RFB-125-24 issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services Division of Engineering and Contract Administration for the demolition of the Boiler House at the Northpoint Training Center in Danville, Kentucky.
The addendum clarifies that Boiler No. 1 has already been removed under a separate project and that the only known hazardous materials to be removed as part of this project are a coating found on a grade water line. The addendum also adds the scope of work to cut off and cap two water lines, one of which contains hazardous materials that must be properly abated and removed if encountered during demolition. The sewer line is also to be capped or plugged at the manhole as part of the project.

Addendum No. 3
December 21, 2023
Item 1 – Clarification to Informal Question
Question: The Demolition Survey included in the Project Specification Book under section 003126 indicates Boiler No. 1 having hazardous materials as well as other hazardous materials requiring abatement. The drawings for this bid package, however, do not specifically show Boiler No. 1. The question being asked is to confirm that Boiler No. 1 is removed.
Response: The drawings indicate “a” boiler has been removed. This is Boiler No. 1. All known hazardous materials have been removed as part of a current project which is currently being completed. Boiler No. 1 is completely gone and no other hazardous materials associated with this item remain at this time. The Demolition
Survey which was included in the bid documents was merely for informational purposes about previous conditions. Presently, the only known hazardous materials to be removed as part of this project are included in the drawings on
Sheet HM1.0, Hazardous Material Removal Plan.
A coating found on a “grade water line” contains hazardous materials and is discussed in a separate addendum item below.
Item 2 – Water Lines – work scope added to the project.
Discussion: During the course of the current project to remove Boiler No. 1 and Stack, a water line into the building is to be cut off and capped. Two water lines were found as shown in the attached sketch. Notes referenced in the attached sketch are as follows:
Senler, Campbell & Associates, Inc. Page 2
Note A – The existing water lines found consist of a metal pipe with a coating that has been found to contain hazardous materials. A test report regarding the hazardous materials has been attached for reference. This pipe is the “left” pipe in the attached sketch. An additional abandoned water line on the right side of the sketch has been found. Both lines are to be cut off and capped prior to work commencing on this current bid package.
Note B – The remaining portion of water line with the coating containing hazardous materials, may be encountered as part of the Boiler House Demolition project. If this is encountered, it shall be removed in accordance with all local and federal laws pertaining to hazardous materials and removed from the site. It is possible that this pipe may be encapsulated in concrete below the building. If so, it need not be abated and removed and maybe allowed to remain provided that it is not disturbed any further. The extent of this pipe is approximately shown in the attached sketch.
Note C – The pipe, the right pipe, is cast-iron and may be removed if encountered as determined by the Contractor. Alternatively, this pipe may be below grade to a depth sufficient that it may be left in place. This is also acceptable. All materials to remain on site at the building location shall be below grade and covered with earth fill as is required for all debris to remain at the site.
Note D – An existing sewer line (sanitary sewer) has been noted and runs below grade to an existing manhole some 50 to 60 feet away from the Boiler Building.
This sewer line is to be capped off or otherwise plugged at the manhole as part of the project.
