About this file

This document is an Addendum to the Invitation to Bid No. RFB-125-24 issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration for the demolition of the Boiler House at the Northpoint Training Center in Danville, Kentucky.

The addendum clarifies that the finished floor elevation of the Main Boiler Room is approximately 823 feet, rather than the 833 feet shown on the drawings. It indicates that the site should be worked to fit within the approximate contour elevations shown, and that the new ground surface should allow for proper drainage upon completion of the work. The addendum also states that there are no available as-built drawings for the structure.

DOC – NTC Demo of Boiler House Northpoint Training Center

Account No. 527-C9AN-NP46-00

Addendum No. 1 December 6, 2023

Item 1 – Clarification to Informal Questions

Question: The finished floor elevation of Main Boiler Room at Dwg. D1.0 is EL. 833.00. However, on Dwg. C1.0, portions of those topo lines are showing elevations as low as 823.00. Can you verify that after demolition and placement of filter fabric and 12" minus clean fill (concrete, brick, block & other nondeteriorating debris) material, that we can work the ground elevations as we want as long as the future elevations allow proper drainage of water and does not pool in large puddles and the roadway integrity remains?

Response: The drawings for the site (C1.0) indicate approximate topographic information available from “on-line” sources. These should be considered approximate for purposes of this response. In addition, it is noted that a note on C1.0 slightly covers the existing boiler house on this drawing. For clarification, the screenshot below shows the topographic contours more clearly for the boiler house and the immediate area.

The grade shown near the “lower floor elevation” of the building house appears to be more consistent with elevations of around 823.0 ft or 824.0 ft. It should be noted that there has been no actual site survey completed for this project and that these elevations, as well as those below in the screenshot are to be considered approximate.

The topographic grades would indicate that the approximate floor elevations shown in Sheet D1.0 and HM1.0 for the lower floor area in Area A should be

823.0 ft. or 824.0 ft. (approximate) and that the indicated elevation of 833.0 ft. is

Senler, Campbell & Associates, Inc. Page 2 not consistent with exterior grades shown on the topographic plan. Additionally, the lower catwalk on these sheets is indicated to be approximately elevation 842.0

ft. This elevation at the catwalk shown on both D1.0 and HM1.0 should be revised to be about 9 ft. higher in elevation or approximately elevation 832.0 ft.

Further accuracy of these elevations is not available.

The intent of the project is to work the site to fit within the approximate contour elevations shown. Any portions of the building which are to be buried at the building site shall be such that the approximate contours shown can be restored upon completion of the work with sufficient soil coverage to allow for grass and seeding. The site is not intended to be “mounded” up in this area but to rather follow the natural contours indicated as closely as possible. Upon completion of the work, the new ground surface shall allow for proper drainage and will not allow water to pool on the newly formed ground surfaces. All other aspects of the drawings and specifications are in effect.

Question: Could you provide all available as-builts for this building?

Response: There are no available as-built drawings for this structure.

The above information reflects all questions asked informally.

Respectfully submitted, Joseph A. Lenzi, P.E.
