About this file

This document is an Addendum to a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by Thornapple Kellogg Schools ("the District") for a School District Monument Sign Upgrade project. The Addendum addresses a question from a potential bidder regarding the removal or covering of concrete in the existing monument sign. The District indicates that they would be interested in an alternate proposal to prep and paint the concrete instead of removing or covering it, as this would be a more cost-effective solution. The related state and local contract opportunity is for the District Monument Signs RFP, which the District plans to pull and repost in the coming weeks with a more specific scope of work. The project will be open to bidders from Barry County and Menominee City, Michigan.

The Addendum does not provide any details on pricing terms, set asides, incumbents, funding requirements, or other salient information. The focus is solely on the District's willingness to consider an alternate proposal to paint the existing concrete monument sign rather than remove or cover it.

ADDENDUM : QUESTION ASKED

February 13, 2024

Thornapple Kellogg Schools (“District”) will accept sealed bids for:

School District Monument Sign Upgrade

Question: We're interested in bidding on your Sign Upgrade project, but had a question regarding the large monument that includes brick and concrete. That sign is asking that the concrete be removed or covered. Would the school be open to painting the concrete? We inspected it and feel it can't be simply removed, and covering it would require building a framed to compensate for the concrete's unevenness. We've done projects like this before where we prep and paint the concrete instead. The results look great, and it's substantially cheaper than fabricating a frame and cover that would then have to be painted anyway.

TK Answer: I would absolutely, be interested in this alternate option. Can you please plan to quote it as an alternate?
