About this file

This document is an Addendum to an Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services Division of Engineering and Contract Administration for the Kitchen Rooftop HVAC and Boiler project at the Roederer Correctional Complex, Department of Corrections in LaGrange, Kentucky. The project involves the installation of new rooftop HVAC units, boilers, pumps, and terminal units. The Addendum clarifies and modifies the original drawings and specifications, including changes to HVAC schedules, pump schedules, and terminal unit specifications. It also provides responses to contractor questions regarding the ceiling grid, roof warranty, and acceptable alternate boiler manufacturers. Bids are due under ITB No. RFB-40-25.

The ITB includes a $15,000 allowance for fire alarm system devices and recertification. Pricing terms, set-asides, and funding sources are not specified in the Addendum. The original ITB documents would contain those details.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of RTUs.

B. Examine roughing-in for RTUs to verify actual locations of piping and duct connections before equipment installation.

C. Examine roofs for suitable conditions where RTUs will be installed.

D. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Roof Curb: Install on roof structure or concrete base, level and secure, according to

ARI Guideline B. Install RTUs on curbs and coordinate roof penetrations and flashing with roof construction specified in Division 07 Section "Roof Accessories." Secure RTUs to upper curb rail, and secure curb base to roof framing or concrete base with anchor bolts.

3.3 CONNECTIONS

A. Install condensate drain, minimum connection size, with trap and indirect connection to nearest roof drain or area drain.

B. Install piping adjacent to RTUs to allow service and maintenance.

C. Duct installation requirements are specified in other Division 23 Sections. Drawings indicate the general arrangement of ducts. The following are specific connection requirements:

1. Install ducts to termination at top of roof curb.

2. Connect supply ducts to RTUs with flexible duct connectors specified in Division 23

Section "Air Duct Accessories."
