About this file
This document is Addendum No. 1 for a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the "Chief Tomokie Restoration at Tomoka State Park" project. The addendum provides responses to nine specific questions from potential vendors about the restoration project. Key details include that all restoration work is to be performed on-site, with secondary elements of the statue to be removed and stored off-site. The Department clarified that the Chief Tomokie figure should only be repaired, not replaced, and no modifications such as adding a water feature are desired.
The addendum indicates that historic photos of the structure exist and are available through Florida Memory for reference. The park is open to the public, and the statue can be viewed from ground level only. No additional equipment is permitted within the park for viewing the statue. The purpose of this RFI is to gather information about available products and services, and if DEP decides to proceed with a formal solicitation, an official site visit will be coordinated to allow all vendors to participate. The document provides a link to lower-quality historic images and emphasizes that this is an informational request only at this stage.

1. - - Is the statue solid concrete?
Answer: See Section 2.02, Background.
2. - - Does the statue have running water plumbed up to the water cup and flowing anywhere on the overall structure?
Answer: No.
3. - - Does the DEP want to incorporate running water into the structure thru the addition of a “closed-loop” system? (if possible) Answer: No.
4. - - Are the secondary elements ( lower figures ) to be restored and placed back onto the structure, or will they be removed and stored only?
Answer: As indicated in Section 2.02, Background, the secondary elements are to be removed and stored off site only.
5. - - If the secondary elements are to be removed and moved into storage, will they need to be repaired/restored for possible future attachment back onto the structure?
Answer: At this time, DEP has not made a definitive decision as to whether the secondary elements will be reattached, but we do require that they be safely removed and transported to a storage facility for preservation and long term storage.
6. - - Is the statue to be removed from the structure and moved to a facility for repair/enhancement/restoration, or is all work to be performed “on-site”, on-structure?
Answer: No. All work is expected to be performed and completed on site. Only the secondary elements of the statute will be removed and stored off site.
