About this file
This is Addendum No. 2 to contract documents for the City of Calhoun Utilities Department regarding construction of a new 2.0 million gallon ground storage tank at Fire Tower Road (Brogdon), Calhoun Project No. 358. The addendum announces a postponement of the bid opening from the originally scheduled September 4, 2026 date to Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The project scope includes furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to construct a concrete pre-stressed ground storage tank with deep foundational supports (aggregate columns), mixing system, yard piping, fencing, grading, soil stabilization, driveway reconstruction, erosion control measures, and all miscellaneous appurtenances required for complete installation. The work must be completed within 240 consecutive calendar days. All bidders are required to contact the assigned project engineer, Kurt T. McCord, at (706) 602-6082 no later than 48 hours before the bid date to confirm receipt of all addenda issued and must acknowledge each addendum in the bid form to avoid submission of an incomplete or non-conforming bid.
Interested parties must obtain updated bid documents directly from the City of Calhoun and register with Andrea Everett (AEverett@calhounga.gov) as a current planholder. Returning bidders do not have to pay for updated bid documents but must request inclusion on the new planholders list. Bidders must hold a valid State of Georgia Utility Contractor license and employ a certified Utility Manager as mandatory qualifications. A bid bond or certified cashier's check equal to at least 10% of the base bid must accompany each proposal, with the surety company holding an "A" minimum rating and financial strength of at least five times the contract price. The successful bidder will provide Performance and Payment Bonds each equal to 100% of the contract price. All bids must remain valid for 60 days following the closing date. Contractors and subcontractors must register with E-Verify to comply with Georgia's Security and Immigration Compliance Act.
