About this file

This is Addendum No. 13 to Invitation to Bid (RFB-265-24) issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, for the Ashland Readiness Center Envelope Renovation located at 2519 Lexington Avenue in Ashland, Kentucky, under the Department of Military Affairs. The addendum modifies the official bid opening date to September 23, 2024, at 1:30 PM ET and provides clarification on technical specifications for window and door modifications. The project requires installation of external grid systems that simulate the vertical and horizontal lines of original steel windows using glazed bases with aluminum pins attached to the exterior of glass only, with no tape-applied muntins permitted due to blast testing requirements. For existing hollow metal doors, work includes changing hardware to surface-mounted vertical rods with non-keyed vertical mullions at doubles, Roton continuous hinges where doors require repositioning to swing outward, and new laminated glazing at doors, sidelights, and transoms, along with new weatherstrips, thresholds, and brush sweeps. The scope also encompasses removal and salvage of existing historical windows, preparation of surfaces, installation of Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) rated windows within existing openings, modification of existing metal doors to meet ATFP standards, inspection and repair of overhead doors, masonry facade and coping, storm water drainage systems, and replacement of exterior storefront systems with blast-resistant glazed aluminum security entrance systems.

Installation methodology and means shall be determined by a delegated design engineer, window manufacturer, and window installer to achieve the minimum blast load rating of Level 2 as specified on the blast chart. The project references attached exterior elevation drawings (Sheets A511 and A512) for additional clarification on work locations and keyed notes detailing specific renovation requirements at various elevations of the facility. All bidders are required to verify muntin patterns and other dimensional specifications in-field prior to performing work, as existing drawings are not to scale.

INVITATION TO BID NO: RFB-265-24

FOR: Ashland Readiness Center Envelope Renovation 2519 Lexington Ave Department of Military Affairs Ashland, Kentucky

DATE: September 16, 2024

RFB-785-2500000110

ADDENDUM NO. Thirteen (13)

BIDDER SHALL CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING CHANGES AS SAME SHALL BECOME BINDING

UPON THE CONTRACT TO BE ISSUED IN RESPONSE TO THIS INVITATION TO BID.

Item 1: Change Official Bid Opening date to September 23, 2024 at 1:30 PM ET. All other bidding requirements remain the same.

Item 2: Please refer to the attached drawing for clarification.

Item 3: Provide external grid system that simulates the vertical and horizontal lines of the original steel windows. This system requires a base that is glazed with the edge of the insulated unit then the vertical and horizontal members are attached to the base with aluminum pins. Due to blast testing these can ONLY be used at the exterior of the glass, no tape applied muntins will be allowed. At windows with an individual 36-40 rectangle pattern use the simpler muntin pattern at similar sized windows instead.

Existing hollow metal doors Change hardware to surface mount vertical rod, non-keyed vertical mullions at doubles, Roton continuous hinges (if doors need moved to swing out) and new laminated glazing at doors, sidelight or transoms. Along with new weatherstrips, thresholds and brush sweeps where required.

Installation means and methods:

Delegated design engineer, window manufacturer and window installer shall determine installation materials and methods to provide the desired minimum blast loads of designated level 2 on the blast chart.
