About this file

This is Addendum No. 1 to Invitation to Bid (RFB-83-25) issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, for the renovation of the Main Building Phase II at KCTCS-Ashland Community & Technical College in Ashland, Kentucky. The addendum, dated September 20, 2024, provides clarifications and modifications to the original specifications and drawings for the renovation project. Key modifications include requirements that fume hoods and science room casework be provided by the same manufacturer to ensure product consistency; the addition of Kewaunee Scientific Corporation as an accepted manufacturer for fume hoods; specifications that back-to-back fume hoods include a clear glass panel for visibility and safety; and requirements that all student worktables, teaching desks, and laboratory casework meet ADA compliance standards with a height of 34 inches. Additional specifications detail laboratory casework dimensions, including base casework at 22 inches depth with a 7-inch utility chase and countertops at 30 inches to provide a 1-inch overhang. The addendum also adds Hager to the list of acceptable door hardware manufacturers for continuous hinges, locks, and closers.

The addendum includes several additional clarifications regarding material specifications and vendor responsibilities. Painted steel is acceptable for fume hood sides facing walls, while sides facing science classrooms must have glass. Service fixtures attached to casework are to be provided by the casework vendor per specification section 122400.3.2.B. Mock-ups are no longer required, and a $50,000 allowance has been added to the contract for work to be performed by AEP, as described in sheet EU101 sheet notes. The contractor is responsible for paying AEP for their work, with any remaining allowance to be change ordered back to the owner. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of the addendum in their proposal and shall be governed by all information contained within the addendum as if included in the original plans and contract documents.
