About this file
This is an Addendum I to Bid #60550-2023-0007 issued by the City of Milledgeville for chemicals used in water and wastewater treatment plant operations. The addendum addresses frequently asked questions from potential bidders regarding product specifications and requirements. The City clarified that the bid does not include Powdered Activated Carbon and confirmed the facility does not utilize that product. Regarding sodium fluorosilicate, the City indicated it is currently under contract with liquid fluoride instead. The addendum confirmed that bidders interested in supplying Sodium Chlorite and Chlorine Dioxide Generators may contact Plant Superintendent Michael Burch at mburch@milledgevillega.us or (478) 414-4045 to discuss system requirements, including manual versus automated system options and sizing specifications. The City noted that new ClO2 generators must be installed immediately upon award to prevent any lapse in treatment operations. Additional chemistry products such as fluoride and lime will be subject to future bidding cycles rather than the current procurement.
Current pricing for chemical products includes Chlorine Gas at $1.071 per pound from Brenntag Mid-South, Sulfur Dioxide at $0.95 per pound from Brenntag Mid-South, Sodium Chlorite at $1.10 per pound from TSM Enterprises, and Aluminum Sulfate at $0.995 per gallon from Affinity Chemicals. The City indicated uncertainty regarding the estimated construction budget for generator installation and acknowledged it could not provide specific average usage data for Sodium Chlorite over the past two years at the time of the addendum. Previous bid tabulations from June 2021 were attached as reference materials for interested vendors.
