About this file
This is Addendum 5 to the original bid package for the Melbourne Courthouse & Historic Titusville Courthouse Lightning Protection System project issued by Brevard County Central Services/Purchasing in Florida. The addendum establishes non-mandatory pre-bid walk-throughs scheduled for January 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Melbourne Courthouse (51 Nieman Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901) and at 1:00 PM at Historic Titusville Courthouse (506 South Palm Avenue, Titusville, FL 32796), with all contractors meeting at the front entrance of each facility. The addendum references revised drawings and specifications for both courthouse locations and introduces an approved alternate for the lightning protection scope: the Early Streamer Emission (ESE) Lightning Protection System, with detailed requirements referenced on Drawings Sheet E-002, Section 26 41 13-1. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum on the price sheet submitted with their bid.
Contractor licensing requirements have been clearly defined for both the base and alternate scopes. For the base lightning protection work, contractors must hold certification from either Underwriters Laboratories (UL) or the Lightning Protection Institute (LPI), with all electrical work performed by a licensed electrical contractor. For the ESE alternate, contractors must be LPI certified, with electrical work similarly performed by a licensed electrical contractor. Additional required licenses include Certified Building Contractor (BC), Certified General Contractor (GC), and Certified Electrical Contractor (EC) credentials. All licenses and certifications must remain valid at the time of bid opening and throughout the duration of the project. A revised price sheet has been provided as Attachment D, and all other terms and conditions of the original bid package remain unchanged.
