About this file

This document is Addendum No. 3 to an Invitation to Bid (No. FW-008-25) issued by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources for the FILO - Rolling Fork Floodplain Stream and Wetland Restoration Project located in Nelson and Larue Counties, Kentucky. The addendum extends the bid submission deadline to July 24, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time and provides clarification on technical specifications related to sodium bentonite materials for the project.

The addendum specifically addresses a bidder's question regarding bentonite specifications, confirming that there is no strict mesh size requirement for sodium bentonite. The document indicates that both powdered and granular sodium bentonite will be acceptable, provided the material meets the minimum swell listed in the technical specifications. The key requirement is that the contractor must ultimately meet the project's flow permanence requirements, regardless of the specific bentonite type used. INVITATION TO BID NO: FW-008-25

FOR: FILO - Rolling Fork Floodplain Stream and Wetland Restoration Project Nelson and Larue Counties, Kentucky

DATE: July 14, 2025

RFB 660 2500000700

ADDENDUM NO. 3

BIDDER SHALL CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING CHANGES AS SAME SHALL BECOME BINDING

UPON THE CONTRACT TO BE ISSUED IN RESPONSE TO THIS INVITATION TO BID.

Item 1: Bid Date Extension. Bids are due by 12:00 p.m. (noon), Eastern Time, July 24, 2025.

Item 2: Response to question below:

Q: Can you please provide clarification on the specs for powdered bentonite? In short, will a sodium bentonite 200 mesh suffice, or is a 325 mesh required? 325 mesh powdered bentonite is very difficult to find in the quantities we need, and I’m also not sure it’s best suited for this application. Granular bentonite is readily available as well. We just want to ensure we are clear with our understanding of what is required so we can plan accordingly.

A: There is no mesh size requirement for the sodium bentonite listed in the technical specifications. Granular sodium bentonite will be an approved alternative to powdered sodium bentonite, provided it meets the minimum swell listed in the specs. Regardless of bentonite type, it is the Contractor's responsibility to meet the flow permanence requirements of the project.
