About this file
This document is an Addendum to a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by Southwestern Oregon Community College for the construction of a Fire Tower. The RFP was originally issued on March 6, 2023, with a closing date of April 6, 2023, at 3:00 PM. The Addendum provides clarifications and additional details regarding the project scope, including the preferred design, interior square footage requirements, container specifications, and the number of burn rooms to be included. The Fire Tower is to be located in Coos County, Oregon, and the project is open to negotiation within a budget constraint, with the structure not to exceed 3,500 square feet.
The clarifications provided in the Addendum indicate that the College is open to different design options, but the interior training space should be approximately 2,500 square feet, with the first floor being larger and the second, third, and fourth floors being equal in size. The Addendum also specifies that two stacking containers, each 10 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 9 feet tall, are required for the maritime simulation, and these containers do not need to be new. Additionally, the Addendum states that two burn rooms, each 12 feet by 12 feet or larger, are to be included on the ground floor and the second floor.

REFERENCED RFP HIGHLIGHTED BELOW:
Below are questions that have been submitted to Southwestern Oregon Community College since the publication of the RFP. Questions posed are in red and answers are in blue.
1 Clarification Q: Can the college provide any additional information on the preferred design? We can construct a 4-Story, 2500 sq. ft. Tower many different ways.
A: Understanding budget constraints, it is open to negotiation. We would not see the structure exceeding 3,500 Sq. Ft.
2 Clarification Q: Is the 2,500 sq. ft. requirement considering interior training space, exterior training space, or both interior and exterior training space combined?
A: Only interior training space was considered. 2,500 Sq. Ft. was an approximate estimate.
3 Clarification Q: Can the College advise on the total interior sq. footage required for each level of the Tower?
A: First floor could be a larger Sq. Ft. space, but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors should be equal in size.
4 Clarification Q: Can the College advise on the total number of containers required and sizes (e.g., 40-ft, 20-ft, etc)?
A: For the maritime simulation, two stacking containers are sufficient. 10 feet long, 20 feet wide, 9 feet tall.
5 Clarification Q: Should the container be new/1-Way condition?
A: Not necessary for the containers to be new.
6 Clarification Q: What height is desired for the containers (e.g., standard height or high-cube)?
A: 9 feet tall
7 Clarification Q: Is only one burn room to be included?
A: Two total burn rooms in the entire structure. This can be located in the
