SCREEN” with “S.S. INTAKE SCREEN.”
QUESTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS
Q1: I was wanting to see what I need to provide to get Elgin listed as an approved equal for the intake screens. Let me know if there is still time to get this approved
A1: See addendum 2.
Q2: Can the contract time be extended or can the notice to proceed be delayed so that the work can be performed beginning in June, 2025?
A2: Owner’s primary usage of pump station is between June-September each year, and prefers to have use of the pump station during these months, however Owner is willing to consider river levels and expected weather prior to awarding contract and finalizing NTP.
Q3: Drawing CD-03: Shows two intake screens, are we quoting two? If yes, is the capacity
4mgd each or combined?
A3: There are 2 screens. Refer to Specification Section 46 21 56 Table 2.02A for requirements.
Q4: Drawing CD-03 Shows (3) air lines running out but doesn’t indicate where the third goes. Are we supplying valves for this line as well or are we only supplying the valves for the lines to the screens?
A4: The “third” pipe in the middle is the air supply line from the compressor. The 2 outside lines feed the air burst air to the screens. No valves are specified to be supplied in this
Contract.
Q5: Where will this airburst system be located? It shows the valves at the end of the platform so that makes us think we are also charging a section of piping along with the receiver. This can influence sizing of the airburst system and compressor. We need to nail down a location for the air receiver.
A5: See attached Drawings “M6” and “C4” for reference indicating existing compressor/electrical building location and interior layout. “Compressor Room” is located in the eastern portion of the “electrical building.” The approximate length of pipe from the existing compressor to the existing air burst valves is 200 ft. All other details are included in Section 46 21 56 Table 2.02A.
Q6: Drawing CD-03 shows a 16” pipe running to each screen but then calls out a 14.3” diameter intake screen which is shown larger than the 16” diameter pipe. The screen is called out at 16” within the specification. As far as I can tell, a 16” diameter intake screen is the appropriate diameter. Please confirm that the 14.3” diameter on the drawings is an error.
A6: The 14.3” diameter on the drawings is an error and corrected in this addendum. Note final screen sizing to meet the performance requirements specified in Section 46 21 56 is the responsibility of the screen manufacturer.
Q7: The spec calls out existing air compressor max pressure of 120psi. Are they using the existing air compressor for the airburst or are we to supply a compressor as well?
A7: Refer to Section 46 21 56 Paragraphs 1.04C and D, as well as revised Section 01 20
00 per Addendum 2.
Q8: There are several spec sections called out within the intake screen spec that were not included within the document package. The following sections are missing:
Section 01 78 36
Section 01 77 00
Section 46 05 00
A8: Refer to Addendum 2.
Q9: Are there any material restrictions such as BABA, AIS, etc.
A9: No
