Fox Lake Park Boat Ramp Dock Replacement B-8-26-39

July 13, 2026

ADDENDUM 2

TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS

This is an Addendum to and shall be considered as part of the original bid package for the above-mentioned bid. Please acknowledge receipt of Addendum 2 in space provided on Price Sheet.

Bidders are requested to acknowledge receipt of this addendum with their bid.

CLARIFICATION TO QUESTIONS RECEIVED

Question 1: To determine overall pile/post length, does the County have any record of an approximate water depth in the existing dock area or any geotechnical data? Typically, 6”Ø tip piles only go to 20’ in length before the diameter naturally increases. With the 7’ minimum embedment and the 5.2’ of pile/post from the bottom of the girders to the 2x8 cap rail on Detail 1 of Sheet S2.0, this would only allow for a maximum distance of 7.8’ from the mud line to the bottom of the girders in ideal soils.

Answer: No Geotech data available from BCPR. It does appear that the AAL survey has elevation markers below the water, so that should help everyone bid from the same supplied information.

Question 2: Are there any existing utilities to be disconnected prior to demolition of the dock structure?

Answer: No.

Question 3: Is there a splice connection detail for the joists that can be provided?

Answer: Joists cannot be spliced mid span, only at girders. A detail can be provided.

Question 4: Are the thru bolts, screws, and Simpson Strong Ties to be 304 or 316 stainless steel?

Answer: 316

Question 5: Does the County have an existing site photos they can provide?

Answer: Site photos attached.

Question 6: Is the 2x6 PT decking to be square edge or radius edge?

Answer: Square edge is sufficient.

Question 7: Is there a Schedule of Values or Bid Form, or is this to be bid as a lump sum as seen on page 17 of the ITB?

Answer: Bid is lump sum, but contractor should have back up /breakdown available if requested.

Question 8: Will use of the public restrooms on site be permissible by the County, or should contractors provide their own temporary facilities?

Answer: Yes, onsite restrooms will be available for use.

Question 9: The plans show a small segment of the dock being replaced and the majority being repaired. Is this a total removal and reconstruction of the existing dock? Will any of the existing dock be left in place?

Answer: Per the project scope this is a complete demolition and complete replacement.

Question 10: What is the budget amount or engineer's estimate for this project?

Answer: $400,000.00, which should be more than sufficient.

Question 11: What area can contractors use for staging?

Answer: Staging area will be onsite, and the area confirmed during the pre-construction meeting with the awarded vendor.

Question 12: Will the boat ramp be closed during construction?

Answer: Yes.

Question 13: Please clarify which permits have already been obtained and which permits will be the Contractor's responsibility.

Answer: SJRWMD exemption has been obtained. Contractor will be responsible for the BC building permit.

Question 14: The drawings indicate pile embedment but do not specify total pile lengths. Please provide the required pile lengths for bidding purposes.

Answer: See survey for mud line elevations.

Question 15: The specifications do not indicate a required stainless steel grade. Please confirm if 304 or 305 stainless steel will be acceptable for thru-bolts, nuts, washers, and screws, or if 316 stainless steel is required.

Answer: 316 stainless steel is required.

Question 16: Will the Owner provide construction surveys, or shall the Contractor provide all surveys and layout?

Answer: Contractor will be responsible for additional surveys

Question 17: After reviewing the design criteria, we noted the requirement for timber treatment at 2.5 CCA. Typically, 2.5 CCA treatment is used for pilings, with decking treated at .06 ACQ and framing members treated at .04 ACQ. All lumber is anticipated to be #1 grade for decking and handrails, with minimal #2 grade lumber used for framing components. Please confirm if these treatment requirements are acceptable or if the 2.5 CCA treatment is intended to apply to all timber components.

Answer: Timber piles will be 2.5CA, framing .04 ACQ. Handrails and decking will be #1 grade .06ACQ agreed

Question 18: Due to potential material lead times and the duration required to obtain permits, a 60-day project duration may be difficult to achieve. Would it be possible to extend the contract duration to 90 days to allow sufficient time for procurement and permitting?

Answer: Project start will be from an agreed upon issue date of a notice to proceed. The project will have a 60-day time to substantial completion. Legitimate documented lead times will be considered for start date issuance on the notice to proceed.

Question 19: Is Builder’s Risk required?

Answer: Yes, per the draft contract.

Question 20: Drawing Sheet Number S1.0 shows the width of the dock is 5’-6” for the posts. The four joists are spaced at 24” O.C. typical. Using the joist spacing, the width dimension of the dock is 6’-1.5” (inside of post to inside of post). Please clarify what is the width of the proposed dock?

Answer: Dock width, inside to inside of post, is 5’-0”

Question 21: Are the posts required to be driven with pile impact hammer?

Answer: Contractor will need to ensure the piles imbedded at least 7’ means and methods are the contractor discretion.

Question 22: At the pre-bid meeting there was mention of needing to demo the riprap/grout pillows landside of the existing dock, will there be any details showing the acceptable demolition limits or requirements of materials to put back?

Answer: Demo of the riprap/grout pillows is shown on drawing C-1, note 2-2, means and methods are at the contractor discretion. The replacement material is a raised concrete sidewalk as shown on drawing C-2, note 2-2. (attachment provided with addendum)

Question 23: With only 7' of post embedment, there will be roughly the same length of exposed post as embedded post, is this acceptable?

Answer: 7’-0” is minimum requirement, Geotech may be required to further evaluate.

Question 24: Can 6x6 square posts be used rather than 6"Ø piles? If piles are used, there will need to be notching in the piles to provide a flush connection with the horizontal boards as well as to provide proper fastening, doing so will create a wave effect in the handrail due to the 4x4 mid-posts being square and not needing the same notching.

Answer: No. If piles are used, there will need to be notching in the piles to provide a flush connection with the horizontal boards as well as to provide proper fastening, doing so will create a wave effect in the handrail due to the 4x4 mid-posts being square and not needing the same notching.

Question 25: Is the existing dock to be completely removed or are the existing pilings staying?

Answer: Per the project scope this is a complete demolition and complete replacement.
