ADDENDUM 2
TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS
This is an Addendum to and shall be considered as part of the original bid package for the above-mentioned bid. Please acknowledge receipt of Addendum 2 in space provided on Price Sheet. Bidders are requested to acknowledge receipt of this addendum with their bid.
CLARIFICATION TO QUESTIONS RECEIVED:
Question 1: How many acres total will need to be mowed?
Answer: Approximately 72 acres per mowing cycle.
Question 2: What type of soil testing is required for this property?
Answer: If topsoil is proposed to be added to an area prior to sodding then the contractor is required to provide the necessary information to meet the soil quality in section 2.05 Topsoil of the specifications provided. This is the soil testing referenced in the bid sheet.
Question 3: What type of Herbicide application is required by Brevard County?
Answer: The bid sheet has separate line items for herbicide application and mechanical removal. Herbicide applications would be included in the proposed work plan for review along with licenses of applicators, product label information, and nonbeneficial plant species to be treated/impacted. Upland herbicide application and wetland herbicide application are called out as separate line items in the bid sheet.
Question 4: The area by the road/bridge, the “dirt pile”, during rain season what are the expectations when the area is unserviceable with a mower due to saturation.
Answer: If there is concern of the area being unable to be mowed, the contractor will be required to contact the project manager and discuss if this is to be removed from the mowing cycle. Mowing is being bid at a price per acre and number of acres to be mowed can be adjusted as needed based on conditions.
Question 5: ArcGIS area – The fence as you enter on the left is spray acceptable or is mechanical control required?
Answer: The fenced is not currently within the scope of work of the project.
Confirmation would need to be made that the fence is owned by Brevard County Utilities.
Question 6: Where are the staff gauges required to be placed? Seven are required, is that accurate?
Answer: Staff gauge installation locations have not been determined but will need to be visible from the road around the basins for operations staff.
Question 7: If temporary irrigation is needed can we pull water from the ponds? Is there any additional water source on site?
Answer: Using water within the basins for temporary irrigation will be approved on a case-by-case basis. Water trucks can fill with reclaimed water at the South Central Regional Water Reclamation facility to use for irrigation as needed.
Question 8: What size plants are required for planting, 1 gal, 5 gal, 7 gal?
Answer: Plantings are not dictated by pot size but are required to meet guarantee or warranty as stated in section 1.12 Planting Services – Plant Material Performance Warranty. Plant Materials are required to meet section 2.03 Plant Materials of the specifications.
Question 9: Is there any schedule to the planting or is it as requested only?
Answer: Planting areas will be proposed as part of the work schedule that is submitted for review and approval each year.
Question 10: What is an acceptable mow high for the service?
Answer: Grass height is not to exceed 12-inches and to be mowed once grass height reaches 6-inches per section 1.08 Mowing Maintenance Services of the specifications.
Question 11: What is the average number of mow services in a calendar year?
Answer: Mowing cycles are anticipated to be 2 times per month from April to September and once per month from October to March but as stated in section 1.08c. of the Specifications, “Mowing interval shall be determined by grass height and frequency may change during the year due to environmental conditions.”
Question 12: Are there any forms provided for the documenting services and inspections, or would this company be created?
Answer: Inspection form templates are not available and required information will be required to be submitted by the contractor.
Question 13: Who would we be required to communicate with per service if needed?
Answer: Regular contact will be with Michael Devlin, Senior Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor (michael.devlin@brevardfl.gov).
