The fencing on the pedestrian bridges on sheet 35-0033 should be 10’-0” tall. The plans and SP 534 have been updated to specify fencing details and materials

37. One of our Bridge Manufacturers has brought up a question that they have concern about. Please see if this can be answered by the engineer:

“The language below is used in giving the welding requirements for both the rolled girder spans and the truss bridge spans on this project. This is a manual stick weld process that will be extremely time consuming and very expensive. We usually only see this requirement in vehicular bridge applications. Typically, we are allowed to flux core weld on pedestrian bridges with GDOT.

We need to confirm if this shielded metal arc welding is required of if flux core welding will be allowed. This could literally take close to a year to stick weld all this.”

Welding-All Welding on Georgia DOT Projects shall be performed by GDOT certified welders that have in their possession a current welding certifications card issued by the office of materials and testing, use only E70XX (Excluding E7014 and 7024) Low Hydrogen Electrodes for manual shielded metal and arc welding of carbon steel. Use only E8018-C3 electrodes for manual shielded metal arc welding of weathering stee;

The contractor shall follow the GDOT Specification and normal GDOT process for the fabrication of the truss. The manual stick weld process listed in the notes is in case of field work or stick welding is required.

38. Contract drawing 33-0001 Noise Barrier Envelopes were not included in the contract drawing set. Without this drawing, we are unable to bid on the noise wall scope. Please provide drawing 33- 0001.

Please review Updated Final plans with the revised date of 3-15-23, it is available in the public files in Bonfire.

39. Within the ITS plans provided (28-0001 through 28-0013) there is considerable LF’ age of duct bank removal and duct bank installation to be done. There are no bid items provided, nor any discussion within the technical manual as to measurement, payment, or construction details on this duct bank. Are these duct banks by others, or should we include an allowance for this duct bank?

Include allowance for duct bank removal and installation in bid submitted for items 610-0500 REM EXISTING CABLE and 935-XXXX FIBER

40 Could you please provide any available geotechnical/subsurface condition data? We are currently unable to determine how much rock vs. soil excavation will be required for the MSE walls. Rock excavation, being 4x more expensive than soil excavation, represents either a major cost risk for us, or we’d have to unfairly inflate our bid to cover any and all material as if it where rock. If no geotechnical data can be provided, we’d recommend adding a bid item to measure and pay for rock excavation in case rock is encountered.

Please see response to question #22.

Updates:

2024 Davis Bacon Wage Rates shall be provided in the public files in Bonfire.

Special Provision 0015023-SP 643 Bridge Fencing shall be provided in the public files in Bonfire.

The Path400 Bike Rack Detail shall be available in the public files in Bonfire.

The revised Final Plan Segments for 0015023 1, 3A, 3B with the revision date of 3-15-24 is available in the public files in Bonfire.

The approved WFI and BFI are available in a zip file called “Approved WFI and BFI Geotechnical Plans”

Updated Bid Tabs are also being provided for Segment 1, Segment 3A, and 3B, the information shall be provided in the requested information in Bonfire.
