About this file

This document is an Addendum No. 2 issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection regarding Bid No. BDC09-24/25 for the Grayton Beach State Park Boardwalk Replacement project. The addendum provides clarification on the required handrail lengths, as well as the reasons for discrepancies between the geotechnical report and the site plans. Specifically, the handrails are only required on the "Slope" portions of the boardwalk and not the "Landing" areas. Additionally, the geotechnical investigation was performed for two different potential alternatives, which resulted in the shape change of the proposed boardwalk to accommodate elevation and ADA accessibility requirements.

The document also states that all other contract documents and attachments remain in full force and effect, and that the addendum must be signed and included with the bid submission, or it may be grounds for bid rejection.

The following statements supersede & supplement the corresponding items in the specifications & drawings:

1. Question: The plans do not list a linear foot for the aluminum/magnesium grab rail. On sheet C200 it shows them on both sides of the boardwalk. Will they continually run on both sides the entire length ?

Answer: Handrails are only required on the portions of the boardwalk labeled “Slope” and are not required on the portions labeled “Landing”.

2. Question: The geotechnical report is showing 2 proposed boardwalks rather than one. The proposed boardwalk is also a different shape than the proposed boardwalk in the site plans C103. Is there a reason for the discrepancy?

Answer: The geotechnical investigation was performed for two different potential alternatives. HA-3 and HA-4 were performed generally in the vicinity of the

BDC Bid No. BDC09-24/25, Addendum #2, Page 2 of 2 current proposed boardwalk. The shape changed due to elevation requirements for crossing the dune line in combination with ADA accessibility requirements.
