About this file
This document is an Addendum to a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a $1 million grant program from the Washington State Department of Commerce for qualifying statewide or local destination marketing organizations (DMOs) to promote tourism in advance of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The addendum provides answers to questions about the definition of a "media company," the criteria for a successful application, the structure of the contracts, and whether the $1 million is for a single contract. The contract will be administered through individual contracts with multiple entities rather than a single contract.
The contract opportunity is open to DMOs in various counties and municipalities across the state of Washington. Eligible jurisdictions include Franklin, Grant, Grays Harbor, Chelan, Yakima, Klickitat, Raft Island, Fort Lewis, Okanogan, Garfield, Pacific City, Okanogan City, Chelan City, Garfield Town, Anderson Island, Clarkston Heights-Vineland, Asotin, Klickitat, Pend Oreille, King, Pacific City, Ferry, Benton City, North Fort Lewis, Island, Snohomish, Skagit, Pacific, Skamania, Clallam Bay, Yakima City, Cowlitz, Herron Island, Chelan Falls, Whatcom, West Clarkston-Highland, Hat Island, Wahkiakum, Mercer Island, Stevenson, Spokane Valley, Lake Stevens, San Juan, Spokane, Clark, Lewis, Mason, Clarkston, Walla Walla, Benton, Stevens, Asotin, Thurston, Kitsap, Pierce, Whidbey Island Station, Bainbridge Island, Whitman, Adams, Clallam, Kingston, Pacific Beach, Lincoln, Puget Island, Rock Island, Columbia, Kittitas, Kitsap Lake, Jefferson, Snohomish, Fox Island, Douglas, Ketron Island, Spokane, and Lewisville.

Addendum 1
RFP: TDMO-10-2025
Title: Tourism Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) Grants
QUESTION AND ANSWERS
1. Could you define “media company?” What do you define as that and what the parameters are?
a. *A destination marketing organization (DMO) is loosely defined as a group that promotes a location as a travel destination, with the goal of increasing tourism and economic activity. DMOs are also known as convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs), tourist boards, or tourism authorities. Historically, DMOs are generally tied to the local government infrastructure and are supported by specific taxes such as those on hotels or rental cars, membership fees or government subsidies. Looking for groups that specifically work in that area.
2. Could you speak to what the criteria would be for a successful application? Is there a customizable solution to different audiences?
a. When you look at the application and it is telling you the eligibility and the criteria, each proposal should come to the table complete, explaining how they are eligible and what their plan is. Consider it an interview on paper. Don’t leave any questions on the table. Be clear if there is a partnership who is doing what.
3. Is this a $1 million dollar contract for one person?
a. No, there will be multiple contracts with multiple entities.
4. How will these contracts be coordinated? Is there any plan for working together or are these individually administered?
a. Individual contracts that will be individually administered.
