About this file

This addendum document issued by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) on October 17, 2016, clarifies and revises terms for the Las Animas Fish Hatchery Electrical Upgrades project (DQ1: 2017000380, CPW Project #: S17AMR-19-C). The project requires installation of switched outlets at eight ponds with electrical service upgrades. CPW has approved consideration of alternate design proposals that include the installation of up to four 120/240-volt NEMA 3R 5KVA transformers positioned between ponds to reduce voltage drop and decrease material costs. All work must comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and State of Colorado Electrical Board requirements. Overhead electrical lines are expressly prohibited, and any transformers or equipment must not obstruct access roads or stairs to drain basins. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum on the bid schedule when submitting proposals.

The addendum addresses specific technical concerns raised regarding voltage drop calculations for GFCI receptacles serving the two furthest ponds, which are located 1,000 feet from the main 100-amp service panel. While the preliminary calculations indicated a need for 2/0 copper wire to maintain voltage drop within the recommended 3% threshold, CPW has indicated flexibility to permit alternate designs that achieve cost savings through reduced wire sizing and material quantities, provided all electrical work meets applicable codes and regulations.

ADDENDUM ONE

October 17, 2016

Subject: Addendum Number One to:

DQ1: 2017000380

CPW PROJECT #: S17AMR-19-C

Las Animas Fish Hatchery Electrical Upgrades

To Whom It May Concern:

The following items clarify or revise the language of the subject invitation for bid and should be considered by all Proposer’s when submitting their proposal. Make sure to note receipt of this addendum on page 1 of the Bid Schedule.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

QUESTION: We have done some preliminary calculations on the voltage drop for 8- 120v GFCI Receptacles, and have found that the furthest 2-ponds from the 100amp service panel (1000') would require 2/0 copper wire to keep the voltage drop under the NEC recommended 3%.

Would you be willing to consider?

4-120/240v NEMA 3R 5KVA transformers located in-between ponds?

This measure would drop the wire size needed by 20% and the quantity of wire needed by 50%

ANSWER: The main goal of this project is having the switched outlets at each pond (8 total). CPW will allow for alternate designs to allow for cost savings, as long as all work meets the requirements of the NEC and State of Colorado Electrical Board.

Overhead lines will NOT be allowed.

Please note, any transformers or other equipment shall NOT be installed in areas that block the access roads or the stairs to any of the drain basins.
