About this file

This is an Addendum #1 issued by Westwood Schools for the Robichaud High School roofing project dated January 8, 2021, clarifying specifications raised during the pre-bid meeting. The project involves roofing work including removal and replacement of existing roof systems consisting of metal decking, polyiso insulation, wood fiber, built-up roofing with flood and gravel, and a second roof with mechanically fastened HD Polyiso and EPDM membrane totaling approximately 4 inches. The addendum addresses installation requirements for tapered systems, minimum flashing height achievements, metal cladding wall treatments at Section 20 with treated plywood fastening and termination details, and potential metal panel trimming at Section 19 walls with corresponding flashing installations. A pre-bid attendance sign-in sheet is referenced as attached to the addendum.

Bid and Performance Bonds are required for project participation. The addendum clarifies that any necessary service disconnections are the contractor's responsibility rather than the owner's. Contact information provided includes Matt Verhey at the Garland Company, Inc. (mverhey@garlandind.com), suggesting Garland Company is the project architect or engineering firm. The addendum supersedes any conflicting information found in the original specifications, establishing it as an authoritative modification to the original bidding documents.

Addendum #1 1-8-21

The following addresses questions raised at the pre-bid meeting. Should any discrepancies be found between the following information and the specifications, the specifications shall supersede.

General Items

1) Pre-bid attendance sign-in sheet is attached.

2) Bid Bond and Performance Bond is required for the project.

Section 21

1) Core was determined to be metal decking, approximately 2 ½” of polyiso, ½” wood fiber, BUR w/ flood and gravel, and second roof consists of mechanically fastened HD Polyiso and EPDM membrane – approximately 4 ½” total.

2) With tapered system, all units are to be raised if necessary to achieve minimum flashing height requirements.

3) Any disconnection of services, if necessary, would be the responsibility of the contractor, not the owner.

4) At Section 20, the two walls clad with metal shall receive a flashing system to the underside of the coping on 20, approximately 36” high. Treated Plywood shall be fastened to the framing (vertical mid-span subgirt will likely be required) with the base and cap sheet running to the underside of the metal coping on Section 20. The flashing shall receive a termination bar and slip flashing beneath the face of the existing coping.

5) At the walls on Section 19, it may be required to trim the base of the metal panels to achieve minimum flashing height. Should the panels be trimmed, contractor shall install a simple flashing to conceal the cut once the slip flashing is installed.
