About this file

This is Addendum 1 to a solicitation for Public Health Signage issued by the City of Madison, Wisconsin Finance Department Purchasing Services on March 22, 2019. The addendum addresses eight questions submitted by bidders regarding specifications and materials for the signage package project (Bid Number 8814-0-2019-BO). Key clarifications include confirmation that substitute manufacturers may be used for wall coverings provided Public Health-supplied images remain and receive approval for any replacements; specification of Mrs. Eaves as the tagline font for room and wayfinding signage; allowance for flat cut acrylic instead of aluminum for painted letters and acceptance of thicker smaller letters; confirmation that murals will be installed on metal stud partitions with gypsum wallboard finish; and clarification that the general contractor is responsible for corner guards at mural locations. The addendum also notes that alternates for material substitutions, such as printed vinyl wall murals with tuff cover laminate or product substitutions for Lumicor Pacific or Inpro products, may be considered upon submission of product data sheets and samples for review during the shop drawing phase.

All bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of Addendum 1 on RFP Form B and the receipt forms and submittal checklist. Additional questions should be directed to Brittany O'Donnell, City of Madison Purchasing Services, at (608) 243-0529 or bodonnell@cityofmadison.com.

RE: ADDENDUM 1

8814-0-2019-BO

Public Health Signage Package

Notice to All Bidders:

Please note the following responses to the questions received:

Question 1: Can you use a substitute manufacturer for the three wall coverings such as 3M, Avery or Oracal?

Answer 1: Yes, however, the Public Health provided images still need to be used. If the vendor were to supply any images as replacements, those would need to be approved.

Question 2: What fonts are used in the Public Health logo for the room sign and public corridor wayfinding sign?

Answer 2: The tagline font is Mrs. Eaves. The other letters are done with paths.

Question 3: Since the letters are going to be painted, can we use flat cut acrylic instead of aluminum?

Answer 3: Please bid per the plan/specifications but we will consider a deduct after award.

Question 4: Can we make the smaller letters ¼” thick?

Answer 4: Yes, that would be acceptable.

Question 5: The Lumicor “Pacific” is very blue and may not contrast well with the blue logo and tagline.

Answer 5: Please bid per plan/specifications and an alternate can be considered during shop drawing review.

Question 6: Instead of the Inpro product could we provide a printed vinyl wall mural that would be applied directly to the wall? We would use a “tuff cover laminate” that is designed to withstand wear and tear.

Answer 6: It could be possible, provide product data cut sheet and a sample to review.

Question 7: What is the wall material where the murals are going?

Answer 7: They will be on metal stud partitions with Gypsum Wall Board finish surface.

Question 8: Are we responsible for the corder guards at the mural locations?

Answer 8: The general contractor is responsible for corner guards.

Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum accordingly on RFP Form B, Receipt Forms and Submittal Checklist.
