About this file

Addendum #1 for the Ethernet Cabling Installation RFP is issued by Washtenaw ISDA (Intermediate School District Agency), a regional educational service agency. The document provides detailed clarifications and responses to eight specific questions from potential bidders regarding an Ethernet cabling installation project. Key project details include installing cable drops that will mount onto wall plates, running cables from an IT SERVER room in Suite 5 to two suites, and using a 4-post server rack with a patch panel. The contractor will be responsible for providing white faceplates and white keystones, with no specific requirements for cable manufacturers beyond meeting technical specifications outlined in the original RFP.

The addendum confirms that power and data will have separate floor cores, with the general contractor providing the data box. A conduit is already installed from the ceiling in Suite 4 through the floor to the floor core. No fiber backbone is required between the new IT closet in Suite 4 and the main server room, as an ISP will provide service directly. The project allows flexibility in cable manufacturer selection, provided the cables meet the technical requirements specified in the original RFP's Scope of Work and Technical Requirements document. No drops are needed for secure doors, and all cable connections will be made using separate cables connecting wall plates to workstations.

RFP – Ethernet Cabling Installation Questions, Answers, and Revisions

Q.1. Do drops for the secure doors mount in the ceiling above the door or in a surface mount box?

A.1. No drops for the doors are required for this project.

Q.2. Do all drops mount into a wall plate, or do any need to run through furniture?

A.2. All drops will mount onto a plate. We will use separate cables to connect from the plates to the workstations.

Q.3. I didn’t see a list of manufacturers for cable or connectivity. Is that at our discretion?

A.3. Yes, we have no requirement for cable manufacturer, as long as it meets the specifications listed in the Scope of Work and Technical Requirements on page 8 of the

RFP.

Q.4. Are patch panels all we need to provide in the rack?

A.4. Yes, the intent of the request is to provide everything from the patch panel to the wall plates.

Q.5. We noticed there’s a new IT closet in Suite 4; will fiber be required to establish a backbone to the main server room?

A.5. No, we will be having an ISP provide service into the IT SERVER room in Suite 5. All cables will be run from this closet to the two suites.

Q.6. Will the new IT closet require any racking or a data cabinet?

A.6. No, we will be providing our own 4-post server rack, however, we ask that the company provide the patch panel.

Q.7. Are there preferences on the color of the keystone, cables, or wall drop faceplates?

A.7. Faceplates on the wall should be white, the keystone color should be white, and there is no preference on the color of the cable.

Q.8. Will power and data both be running through the same floor core, and will the company need to provide the box?

A.8. Power and data will have separate cores in the floor and the general contractor will be providing the data box. There is also a conduit already run from the ceiling in Suite 4 through the floor to provide a run to the floor core.
