About this file
This document is an Addendum to the Invitation to Bid No. RFB-282-23 for Library/Commons Revisions at the J. Marvin Jolly Classroom Center at Hazard Community and Technical College in Hazard, Kentucky, issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration. The Addendum addresses various questions and responses related to the project, including allowances for knock-down door frames, the relocation of an existing modular glass wall system, carpet reuse, ceiling heights, contract duration adjustments for long lead times, data/IT scope clarification, partition requirements, furniture and equipment removal, and site visit availability.
The contract completion time is 120 days, but the owner is willing to adjust the duration due to long lead times for materials. The owner will remove all loose furniture and equipment prior to construction, and the existing acoustic tile and grid in the Secure Area and Flex Office Space are to be reused to the greatest extent possible. Potential bidders are allowed to visit the site prior to bidding by contacting the designated HCTC representative.

ADDENDUM QUESTIONS & RESPONSES
1.01 Question: Will the Project allow knock down door frames to save significant time and money?
Response: Provide welded frames per specifications. Owner accepts longer lead times and can adjust the contract duration.
1.02 Question: Where is the existing modular glass wall system to be used for Tutoring and Success
Coach offices currently located?
Response: Owner will take care of the relocation in-house. Contractor to reconfigure and reassemble in final location.
1.03 Question: What is the intent for carpet in the Secure Area and Flex Office Space?
Response: The carpet is broadloom, not carpet tile. The existing carpet in this new, divided office area is to be reused and no new carpet will be required. Owner requests to save carpet.
1.04 Question: What is the height above ceiling to underside of roof?
Response: 41” above the new Circulation Area and 52” above the old Circulation Desk.
1.05 Question: Is the contract completion time of 120 days set or flexible due to long lead times for materials such as doors and frames? Wood door lead times are tracking around 18 – 20 weeks currently.
Response: Owner accepts longer lead times and can adjust the contract duration. Temporary doors could be used in the interim.
1.06 Question: Please clarify data / IT scope of work.
Response: Remove all data ports from the project – only provide empty boxes and conduit to above ceiling. Owner will wire in the future.
1.07 Question: Please clarify if plastic or a hard partition would be required for separation of construction area from adjacent spaces not included in scope of work.
Response: Plastic sheet dividers are acceptable.
ADD-02
1.08 Question: Clarify that all non-attached furniture and equipment will be removed by the college prior to the start of construction.
Response: Owner M&O will remove all loose furniture and equipment prior to construction.
1.09 Question: Will the ceiling in the Secure Area and Flex Office Space be kept?
Response: Owner requests that Contractor existing acoustic tile and grid be used to the greatest extent possible throughout the Project.
1.10 Question: Does the Owner anticipate demolition to be finished before school begins?
Response: Preferably, but subject to contracts.
1.11 Question: Does the newly installed Circulation Desk need to be protected?
Response: Other than standard protocols for containing construction dust and debris, the desk should be far enough away from the Work to not be an issue.
1.12 Question: Can potential bidders visit the site prior to bidding?
Response: Yes. Contact Stu Fugate at HCTC to request access.
