About this file
This Addendum 1 to the Snow and Lawn Services RFP, issued by a Michigan school district (GISD) on August 27, 2026, clarifies key operational requirements for snow and lawn services contractors. The addendum addresses four critical questions submitted during the bidding process and establishes that no additional questions will be accepted prior to the bid opening scheduled for September 1, 2026. The snow removal services scope clarifies that contractors are expected to plow snow on-site rather than remove it, with removal only necessary when space constraints require it. For precipitation of 1 inch or less on sidewalks, contractors may attempt to melt snow using ice melt products depending on weather and temperature conditions, though colder conditions may necessitate snow removal prior to application of ice melt or salt.
The addendum establishes contractor responsibilities for inventory control and application of salt and ice melt products. Contractors must provide shipping tickets documenting receipt of district-purchased bulk salt and maintain accurate inventory records using methods of their choosing. The contractor bears full responsibility for determining appropriate application rates for bulk salt and ice melt based on specific weather conditions and safety requirements, as the district does not provide predetermined application rate specifications.

Addendum 1
Project: Snow and Lawn Services RFP
Date of Addendum: 8-27-2026
The following questions were addressed during the bidding process. No more questions will be received/ responded prior to bid opening on 9-1-2026
1) Are we plowing snow on the sites vs. or are we removing from sites? This is derived from the scope stating “Snow Removal Services” or only removing from parking lots and sidewalks as needed to specified areas?
The intent of “Snow Removal Services” is to plow snow on site and not remove snow unless a situation would arise where “removal” would be necessary, for space concerns.
2) If we have 1” or less of precipitation on sidewalk, do we remove precipitation first or do we try and burn it off with ice melting products?
The situation would be dictated by weather and snow conditions. An attempt could be made to burn snow off with ice melt, other colder conditions, may require snow to be removed before ice melt or salt can be applied.
3) What methods are being used for inventory control on stored/applied GISD bulk salt?
Contractor is responsible for providing ship tickets of salt received through District purchased salt and delivery methods. Contractor is responsible for keeping accurate inventory used by means determined by contractor.
4) Do you have approximate application rates for bulk salt and ice melt applications for your buildings or is this up to the contractor estimation?
The contractor is responsible for determining necessary, proper, and safe amount of product to be applied for any given weather condition.
