About this file

This is Addendum #1 to RFP 23-16 for a UHF Digital Radio System issued by the Butts County Board of Commissioners in Georgia. The addendum provides clarifications and answers to vendor questions regarding a turnkey project to implement a new UHF simulcast 6 Channel/Frequencies Trunking Radio System. The system will serve four sites: Southern Crescent Technical College (1578 Hwy 16 W), a water tower at 116 Jackson Lake Inn Rd, Butts Water Tower, and a leased tower in Jasper County. The county currently operates a 4-site microwave system connecting SCTC, E-911, Jackson Lake Inn Rd Water Tower, and Hwy 16 W Water Tower. The closing date for proposals was extended to September 7, 2023. The county notes that no official test sites have been designated and emphasizes the need for reliable coverage in areas of concern, particularly near the lake and interstate regions experiencing significant industrial growth with warehouse development.

The four transmission sites have varying heights: 125 feet at both water tower locations, 150 feet at the SCTC site, and 90 feet at the 911 center. The addendum indicates the county is open to alternative solutions and approaches beyond the specified UHF system if vendors can demonstrate superior functionality and reliability. Current environmental challenges include clear morning conditions but significant afternoon static interference. All addendum acknowledgments must be documented on the Bid Documents Checklist; failure to acknowledge receipt may result in a non-responsive bid determination.
