About this file
The document is an Addenda (#1) issued by the City of Johnstown's City Engineer's Office in New York for a Demolition Project. The addendum provides clarification and additional instructions for potential bidders, including details about site disposal rates, foundation backfilling requirements, and site visit opportunities. Site visits to examine the building's exterior and interior can be scheduled with the City Engineer's office, though these visits are encouraged but not mandatory.
The addendum specifies a $25/ton disposal rate for friable materials, which is pending Fulton County Board of Supervisor approval but has been successfully used in previous similar projects. The contract requires bidders to include backfilling of foundations with clean material, with provisions that blocks washed and determined to be clean fill can be used. If tipping fees exceed the specified rate, a change order will be issued to cover the difference. The City will coordinate the removal of any excess clean brick or block materials using its own forces. Interested bidders can contact the City Engineer's office at 518-736-4014 or via email at cvose@cityofjohnstown.ny.gov for questions or concerns.

Addenda #1 for Demolition Project
Please note that based on questions we have received from perspective bidder the City of Johnstown found it pertinent to issue this addendum to the bid documents to answer some of the general questions we have received.
The disposal of this project should be estimated using the $25/ton disposable rate for friable materials the City of Johnstown anticipates being approved to use as a municipality within Fulton County. This is based on Fulton
County Board of Supervisor approval but we have been successful in utilizing this for similar project in the past. If the tipping fees are to be above this rate a change order will be issued to cover the difference in rate per ton of disposed material, either friable or non friable.
The contract should include backfilling of the foundations with clean material in their bid cost. Any block that can be washed and determined to be clean fill by the project monitor can be used as back fill material. However the foundation will be required to be capped with a layer of clean material and made as uniform as possible to the surrounding area to create a flat lot. If there are any clean brick or blocks that need to be removed from the site the City will coordinate the use of its own forces to remove the excess material.
Site visits to examine the exterior and interior of the building can be scheduled with the City Engineer’s office.
Site visits are encouraged but not required.
Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the City Engineer’s office at 518-736-4014 or by email cvose@cityofjohnstown.ny.gov.
Sincerely, Christopher J. Vose
