About this file

This is an addendum to Request for Bid (RFB) 2026-01 issued by the Madison County Finance Department Division of Purchasing in New York for a prefabricated steel bridge superstructure for Beaver Creek Road Bridge (Bro-465) in the Town of Brookfield, Madison County, NY. The addendum provides clarifications to the original specifications document in response to bidder inquiries. Key clarifications include confirmation that the overall beam depth requirement of 34 inches encompasses both the beam itself and the decking and wearing surface to match current roadway geometry; expansion joints are not required to be included as part of the bid; and bidders should assume no elevation difference between the top of abutment walls. The county reserves the right not to award the bid if delivery cannot be reassured by August 14, 2026 at the latest, though liquidated damages will not be assessed for failure to meet the initial July 31, 2026 target date.

No pricing information, set-asides, incumbent contractor data, or specific funding sources are detailed in this addendum. The document serves solely as a clarification notice to address technical and contractual questions raised during the bidding process. Interested bidders are directed to contact the Madison County Purchasing Department at purchasing@madisoncounty.ny.gov or (315) 366-2247 for additional inquiries.

ADDENDA 1 - TO ALL BIDDERS

RFB 2026-01 Prefabricated Steel Bridge for Beaver Creek Road Bridge (Bro-465) in the Town of Brookfield, Madison County NY

There have been questions asked for clarification of the language within RFB 2026-01 Attachment 1 - Specifications document. Please see below the questions and answers:

Will liquidated damages be assessed if delivery of the bridge cannot occur by 7/31/26, and if so, what is that amount?

No, liquidated damages will not be assessed as it’s not part of the bid specifications. However, if we cannot be reassured that delivery can be made by August 14th at the latest, we reserve the right not to award the bid.

In the “Bridge Characteristics” section of the specifications, it is indicated that the overall beam depth shall be 34”. We are assuming that this does not just include the depth of the beam itself and also includes depth of the decking and wearing surface. Please clarify this and define exactly where this depth needs to be measured to.

The beam depth must be 34” to allow for the bridge deck to match current roadway geometry.

Expansion joints are referenced in the “site, delivery & erection” section of specs. Are they required to be included in the bid? If so, please specify technical specifications for them.

Expansion joints are not included as part of this bid.

Will there be an elevation difference from end to end of the bridge? If so, please provide the value.

Assume no elevation difference between the top of abutment walls.

If you have any questions, please email purchasing@madisoncounty.ny.gov or call the main purchasing line at (315)-366-2247.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you or your company.
