About this file
This document is an addendum to a Request for Bids (RFB) for fire hose and accessories issued by the Troup County Board of Commissioners in Georgia. The RFB seeks bids for 4 fire hoses and related accessories. Sealed bids are due by 2:00 PM on April 23, 2024, and all questions must be submitted by 5:00 PM on April 15, 2024. The purchase is being made using funds from an Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program, which requires a percentage of the total cost to be paid by the Troup County Fire Department. Bidders are allowed to offer a discount for the award of the entire package to a single bidder.
The addendum addresses several questions from potential bidders. It confirms that the county will accept comparable/similar products to the specified items as long as they meet the required specifications. The addendum also states that the county will accept a cashier's check in the amount of 5% of the bid value in lieu of a bid bond, and that a Georgia Resident Agent is not required to countersign the performance bond as long as the bonding company is authorized to do business in Georgia or is on the United States Treasury's list of approved bond sureties.

ADDENDA 1
ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT
HOSE AND ACCESSORIES REQUEST FOR BIDS
1 Can you advise if the end user will accept comparable/similar to items for the products specified in this bid? I do not see any working in the bid document regarding this.
Pictures are for reference only. As long as product meets spec with the correct inlets and outlets, and materials constructed. Color only matters in the hose, it must be yellow.
2. When is the potential purchasing timeline?
As soon as the bids are received, I will review them with the Fire Department. We will then determine our recommendation for the Board of Commissioners. Our request to award will be added to the next board meeting agenda. Those meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. I would expect to be on the May 7, 2024 agenda.
3. Would you be willing to accept a cashier’s check in the amount of 5% of the bid ` in place of a bond?
Would a Georgia Resident Agent be required to countersign a performance bond?
We will accept a cashier’s check for the bid bond. As long as the bonding company is authorized by the Insurance Commissioner of Georgia to do business in Georgia or on the United States Treasury’s list of approved bond sureties, and you provide proof of such authorization or approval, it can be signed by any authorized principle of the surety company, regardless of state of residency.
