STATEMENT OF WORK: Acoustical Ceiling and Wall Panels for Canyon Rim Visitor Center
Background:
The theater in Canyon Rim Visitor Center is used daily to show visitors the park film. It has not been improved on since the original installation in 1991. The ceiling tiles are showing stains from water damage and walls have had damage from previous speaker systems being removed. Last year we replaced the AV equipment with a new system, and we are now trying to update the rest of the theater. With the redesignation of the park to a National Park (previously a National River), we have seen a huge increase in visitation. For most of the year the theater is being utilized by about 300 or more people per day, with the film showing every half hour. This project will provide new ceiling panels and wall coverings to update the theater and make it more functional. Noise is always an issue due to the number of visitors in the building at any given time, so we want to install acoustical ceiling and wall panels to provide for better sound quality to match the new ACV system.
The park is nearing the end of a complete exhibit overhaul for the Canyon Rim Visitor Center, with new exhibits being installed in December 2023. This project will compliment the exhibit project by updating the theater to match the overall visitor center updates.
