SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE
26 October 2018
1. PROGRAM: TACOM ILSC Soldier Product Support Integration Directorate (SPSID)
2. SUBJECT: Army Combat Fitness Test Equipment
3. DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND:
The Army has directed replacement of the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). The legacy APFT evaluates aerobic and anaerobic energy system fitness against limited functional and combat movements. The new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) introduces a broad range of core functional and combat movements as the foundation to enhance Soldier anaerobic and aerobic fitness. The desired end-state of the ACFT implementation is an increase in physical readiness, evaluated against a combat physical fitness standard. The United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) developed the ACFT capabilities and requirements.
TRADOC insists that standardization of ACFT equipment across all Army Active Duty and Reserve Components is crucial. It is necessary for all ACFT equipment to be intensely managed to achieve Total Asset Visibility and support Soldier Readiness throughout the Army.
The ACFT will measure muscular strength, muscular endurance, power, flexibility, coordination, speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, balance, and reaction time. The Government estimates a total of 28,000 sets to support approximately 1,750 Battalions. The ACFT is a six event test comprised of 11 items (one set) of fitness equipment consisting of the following:
1. Hexbars (60lbs)
2. Bumper Plates (10lbs)
