Base Support Equipment List & Available Base Facilities for

Certification of On-Site Contractor Support for Contract Physics-based and in-situ Composite Analysis and Simulation Solutions (PICASSO)

The following base support equipment and facilities at Wright Patterson AFB, OH will be available beginning 19 October 2020 through 1 Jan 2027:

Building 654, [Polymer Matrix Composite Facilities], Rooms 1-4, 31-34, 223, 225, 226, 232-234, 250- 253, and 322:

Autoclave for processing polymer matrix composites 2 Polymer matrix composite lay up/prep lab with freezer storage for large prepreg rolls, smaller cut prepreg, and resin materials 1

X-ray computed tomography 1 Hot press for polymer matrix composite preparation, resin transfer molding and vacuum assisted resin transfer molding 1

Resin transfer molding injector and dual screw extruder 1

Diamond saw for cutting of polymer matrix resin and composite specimens 1

Resin modification lab with speed mixers, sonicators, and Schlenk lines 1

Furnaces and ovens 1

Nanoindentor, Nano IR, and optical microscopy 1 Additive manufacturing laboratory with direct-write, fused deposition modeling, and digital light projection printers 1

Mechanical testing facility 1

Polymer thermal analysis facility 1

X-ray facility including small and wide angle x-ray (SAX/WAX) 1

Office space along with furniture, and office computer and printing equipment will be provided.

Reproduction facilities will be available on a limited basis. Telephones for on-base and local communication will be available. Routine supplies, equipment and materials will be furnished as available through the Government.

Other services available at or through the Structural Materials Division (AFRL/RXC) including: machine shop; Precision Metrology Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) shop; conventional and instrumental chemical analysis; Material Characterization Facility (MCF) with capabilities such as metallography, photography, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Focused Ion Beam (FIB) Microscopy, and Microprobe will also be available for this program, as needed and available.

Access to the computer facilities at the Air Force Research Laboratory, DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) computer center and the Materials & Manufacturing Directorate (AFRL/RX) computers will be available to the contractor on a no-charge-for-use basis.

Services offered by the Technical Library including: Borrowing unclassified, unlimited library material;

Interlibrary loan; Ordering of tech reports; Limited duplication of fiche and hardcopy; and On-line literature searching.
