About this file
This is a federal solicitation (W912NS26Q2008) issued by the Missouri Army National Guard for the purchase of one industrial-grade dual-source laser engraving and cutting machine.
The system must be a complete, turnkey solution combining CO2 and fiber laser technology. The CO2 laser must utilize a minimum 65W tube for non-metal materials including wood, acrylic, glass, rubber, leather, and fabric, while the fiber laser component requires a minimum 20W capacity for direct metal marking and etching on stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and titanium. The system must operate at a minimum speed of 2000 mm/s with 5G acceleration and include integrated cameras for precision positioning. Required specifications include heavy-duty stress-relieved steel framing with servo or high-speed stepper motors, deep material penetration capability for continuous vaporization and clean edge creation on industrial materials, a minimum 24x24-inch work bed platform, and motorized Z-tables with autofocus sensors and rotary attachments for variable material thicknesses. The contractor must be an authorized distributor of the product and provide environmental controls including integrated industrial chillers, high-flow air assist systems, fume extraction units, enclosed exhaust and filtration systems, and interlocked safety-rated enclosure with protective viewing windows. The system must be compatible with robust CAD/CAM production software such as LightBurn, CorelDRAW, or specialized industrial controller software. Systems not meeting all desired characteristics may be submitted for technical review, with the government retaining sole right to determine technical acceptability and reject quotations deemed non-compliant.

W912NS26Q2008
Missouri Army National Guard Laser Engraving and Cutting Machine
Objective of Acquisition
The Missouri Army National Guard’s Visual Information Office is seeking to purchase an industrial-grade engraving and cutting system to enable broader creation and sharper production.
Salient Characteristics
Dual Source Engraving and Cutting System – Quantity 1 EA
a) Nomenclature: Engraving and Cutting System
b) Vendor must be an authorized distributor of the product.
c) The contractor shall provide a complete, turnkey engraving and cutting system meeting or exceeding the following salient characteristics:
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The system will have a high laser power capacity, heavy-duty rigid steel framing, and fast precision motion system designed for continuous, high-volume manufacturing.
LASER FUNCTIONALITY: Dual Source
• Combination: CO2 and Fiber (Dual Source) set up
• Speed: 2000 mm/s (minimum) with 5G acceleration
• Camera system: Integrated cameras for precision positioning
MATERIAL CAPABILITY
• CO2: non-metals such as wood, acrylic, glass, rubber, leather, and fabric
• Fiber: (direct metal marking) etching/engraving for stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and titanium.
KEY SYSTEM ELEMENTS
POWER AND PERFORMANCE
• High Wattage: Utilizes a minimum of 65W CO2 tubes for non-metal and thick acrylics, and high-power fiber lasers 20W (minimum) for direct metal cutting and marking.
• Fast Processing Speeds: Employs advanced servo or high-speed stepper motors to maintain accuracy during rapid vector cutting and high-resolution raster engraving.
• Deep Material Penetration: Capable of continuous vaporization and clean edge creation on heavy industrial sheets like stainless steel, aluminum, thick wood, and dense polymers.
BUILD QUALITY AND HANDLING
• Heavy-Duty Chassis: Built with stress-relieved, reinforced steel frames to eliminate vibration at high speeds and ensure long-term structural alignment.
• Automated Motion Add-ons: Includes motorized Z-tables for variable material thicknesses, autofocus sensors, and rotary attachments for cylindrical parts.
SAFETY AND INTEGRATION
• Environmental Controls: Integrated industrial chillers, high-flow air assist systems, and fume extraction units to clear debris and prevent combustion.
• Industrial Software: Compatibility with robust CAD/CAM production software suites (such as LightBurn, CorelDRAW, or specialized industrial controller software) for precise file parsing and workflow automation.
• Material Holding Kit: Slat-bed track and clamping assemblies.
CORE PROCESSING SYSTEMS
• Laser Source: Generates the high-intensity beam; to include CO2 tubes for non-metals and fiber sources for metals.
• Laser Head and Optics: Includes focusing lenses and mirrors that concentrate and direct the light beam precisely onto the workpiece.
• Assist Gas System: Uses compressed air or specialized gases via a nozzle to blow away debris and prevent material flare-ups.
MOTION AND CONTROL
• CNC Controller: The computerized brain that translates vector design files into exact coordinate movements and power adjustments.
• Drive Motors and Rails: Heavy-duty servo or stepper motors paired with linear guides and timing belts for rapid, accurate positioning.
• Work Bed / Platform: A heavy-gauge steel honeycomb, blade, or vacuum table designed to support large, heavy stock materials securely (24x24 inches minimum).
SUPPORT AND SAFETY INFRASTRUCTURE
• Cooling system that prevents high-powered laser sources from overheating during prolonged jobs.
• Enclosed (internal) Exhaust and Filtration: Industrial blowers and dust collectors that pull smoke, toxic fumes, and particulate matter away from the cutting zone.
• Interlocked Enclosure: Safety-rated heavy metal housing with protective viewing windows to contain stray laser radiation and debris.
Any product offered must meet the above objective of the acquisition. Systems that do not meet all the desired characteristics, while still meeting the objective of the acquisition, may still be submitted for a technical review. The government retains the sole right to determine technical acceptability of a quotation, and to reject any quotation it deems does not meet the objective and/or characteristics.
