About this file
This document is a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) prepared by West Central Environmental Consultants, Inc. (WCEC) for the Warbird One Stop located at 117 Wiley Avenue South in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. The assessment was conducted to determine the presence or absence of petroleum constituents in the subsurface soils near existing pump islands and underground storage tanks. WCEC advanced three test holes to approximately 12-feet below grade and collected soil samples from each test hole, which were field screened for volatile organic compounds and submitted for laboratory analysis.
The laboratory analysis revealed petroleum contamination in each of the test holes. The samples were analyzed for TPH-Gas, TPH-Fuel, and BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene). Soil samples from Test Holes #1 and #2 were collected at depths of 10-12 feet, while Test Hole #3 was located in the area of a former 4,000-gallon underground storage tank. Native soils consisted of silt with fine-grained sand, and groundwater was found approximately 6-7 feet below grade. Due to the presence of petroleum odors and stained soils, WCEC contacted the North Dakota Department of Health to report the petroleum contamination, and the staff requested a copy of the report when available.
