About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of a Pilatus4 900K detector system for the CMS beamline at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS II) at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The project objective is to replace and upgrade an existing detector while maintaining beamline capabilities for vacuum chamber operation.
The procurement scope includes a custom-designed PILATUS4 S 900K-CMS detector, a vacuum feedthrough, and detector commissioning. The new detector represents an upgrade from the Pilatus3 800k model with improved specifications including a smaller pixel size of 150 microns, maintenance of the 25Hz frame rate, and thin edges of less than 0.6mm. The detector will function as a Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering (WAXS) detector for simultaneous operation with a Pilatus2M SAXS detector. The design has been reviewed and approved by the BNL Technical Representative. Three primary deliverables are required: the detector and vacuum feedthrough set (due approximately 7.5 months after order with conformance to BNL-approved design), commissioning at the CMS beamline (due 1-2 months after detector delivery), and end-item technical documentation including operation manual, commissioning/test report, calibration records, certificates, and vacuum/electrical documentation (due at delivery and/or completion of commissioning). The overall project schedule is approximately 8.5-9.5 months from order to completion of commissioning before installation for general user operation.

August 2021 Statement of Work 1
Statement of Work Title Pilatus4 900k detector at the CMS beamline
Project Objective
This Statement of Work is developed for the procurement of a new detector for replacement and upgrade of an existing detector at the CMS beamline of NSLS II. This detector is critical to maintain the beamline capabilities for operation in vacuum chamber.
Project Scope
The procurement includes a custom-designed PILATUS4 S 900K-CMS detector, a vacuum feedthrough, and detector commissioning. The design is compatible to the existing stage and vacuum chamber and upgrade from Pilatus3 800k to a Pilatus4 900k. Comparing to the old detector, the new detector will achieve a smaller pixel size (150microns), the same frame rate (25Hz) and thin edges (<0.6mm). It will be used as the Wide-Angles X-ray scattering (WAXS) detector for simultaneous operation with Pilatus2M, a SAXS detector. The detector design has been reviewed and approved by the BNL Technical Representative.
Deliverables
Deliverable Description Due Date
Detector and associated vacuum feedthrough set
Detector manufacturing and delivery.
Conformance to BNL-approved design
Approximately 7.5 months after order
Commissioning Successful commissioning at the CMS beamline in accordance with the Contractor's applicable standard performance criteria
Approximately 1–2 months after detector delivery.

August 2021 Statement of Work 2
Schedule
The following schedule is for planning purposes only. Schedule requirements as set forth in the contract will take precedence. The estimated detector lead/delivery time is approximately 7.5 months after order.
Commissioning is expected to require an additional 1–2 months before the detector is installed for general user operation.
