About this file

This is a PowerPoint file detailing vessel information for a Sources Sought notice regarding the construction of a new passenger/cargo vessel called Ranger IV for Isle Royale National Park. The vessel will be operated by ISRO (Isle Royale National Park) to provide visitor and operational access across Lake Superior.

The Ranger IV is specified as an all-steel, double-hulled, diesel-powered ship with an energy storage system allowing zero-emission transit below 8 knots. Key capabilities include 3,500 square feet of cargo space with crane capacity, integrated tanks for various fuel types (diesel, propane, gasoline, aviation gas), seating for 150 passengers, crew housing, and state-of-the-art communication and navigation systems. The vessel will operate from mid-April through October, completing 45-50 round trips annually. It will support multiple functions including passenger ferry service, staff transport, cargo delivery, fuel transport, and concessions operations support at Rock Harbor and Washington Harbor. The file includes concept design images and schematic profiles of both the current Ranger III and proposed Ranger IV vessels.
