Sterin 70 Gy Irradiation Indicators Ashland Specialty ingredient G.P.
1. Scope/ Product Specifications This is a firm fixed‐price Indefinite‐Delivery, Indefinite‐Quantity (IDIQ) contract for Sterin 70 Gy irradiation indicators. The Sterin irradiation indicator is used to mark sterile pupae that are in a development stage of approximately 2 hours prior to Irradiation. Sterin insect irradiation indicators are to provide positive, visual verification of irradiation at or above the printed minimum indicated dose of 70 Gy. When attached to product, Sterin indicators show whether the product has been exposed to radiation. Before a product and its attached indicator are irradiated, the indicator reads NOT IRRADIATED. After the product is irradiated, the word “not” in the indicator window is obscured and the indicator reads IRRADIATED. Tag is placed inside a sausage bag of approximately 75,000 fertile pupae, then sorted through the Irradiation machine. When the pupae sausage exits the irradiation machine, it is visually inspected and marked as IRRADIATED to ensure pupae has gone through its proper cycle of sterilization.
