Mr. Ken Czapski Sanders & Czapski Associates, PLLC 109 Front Street, Suite 210 Marquette, Michigan 49855
RE: ASBESTOS LABORATORY RESULTS – PILOT ISLAND LIGHT STATION, PLUM ISLAND LIGHT
STATION, AND PLUM ISLAND LIFE-SAVING STATION
Dear Mr. Czapski:
This letter report summarizes the asbestos laboratory results for samples that Sanders & Czapski Associates, PLLC collected, bagged, and labeled from buildings at Pilot Island Light Station, Plum Island Light Station, and Plum Island Life-Saving Station for laboratory analysis by Golder Associates Inc. (Golder).
This letter report documents testing of potential asbestos containing material (PACM) or asbestos containing material (ACM) based on the samples provided for laboratory analysis. Quantities present on the site of the sampled materials were not provided with the samples. This report is not intended to be a full asbestos survey, rather an analysis of the samples provided. Under no circumstances should this letter report be considered a full asbestos survey utilized as a bidding document or utilized as a project specification document.
Thirty-one bulk samples of PACM were provided in individual containers. The samples were sent to a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP)/American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) accredited laboratory for analysis. Samples were submitted to Schneider Laboratories, Richmond, Virginia and analyzed using method EPA 600. The Schneider Laboratory report and sample chain-of-custody is attached.
The structures, sample numbers, descriptions/locations, and laboratory results are included in Table 1, attached.
Samples containing ACM materials including caulk, siding, floor tile and mastic, pipe insulation, and vinyl flooring are highlighted in bold print in the table. ACM was found to be present in two of the 14 samples from Pilot Island Light Station, five of the nine samples from Plum Island Light Station, and two of the eight samples from Plum Island Life-Saving Station.
Golder appreciates this opportunity to assist Sanders & Czapski Associates, PLLC. The undersigned attest that Golder conducted the work described herein following practices and principles consistent with that level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of this profession currently practicing under similar conditions and in substantial accordance with proposal P1775393. Please contact us if you need additional information.
Sincerely, GOLDER ASSOCIATES INC.
