About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a Sources Sought solicitation related to SATCOMs (Satellite Communications) by the Department of the Air Force Space Command. The document addresses four key questions about the potential procurement, including technical specifications for Ka-band antenna feeds and clarification of submission dates. Specifically, the customer requires Ka-band linear polarization antenna feeds for the Agilis 2431 antenna system, which differs from typical military circular polarization, and is addressing a niche mission requirement.
The solicitation is currently in the market research stage and not yet open for quotes. The key dates are: submission of questions deadline is 30 April 2025 by 12:00 P.M. Mountain Time, and the Sources Sought closes on 2 May 2025 by 09:00 A.M. Mountain Time. The document also notes that a question about surveying construction site security may have been included by mistake and can be disregarded. Potential vendors are advised to monitor Sam.Gov for future updates about this opportunity.

Q & A Sources Sought SATCOMs
1. Is Ka-band linear polarization, correct? Most military units utilize KA Circular.
a. The customer has a specific need for Ka-linear, in this instance. The customer already has Ka-band, right-hand circular polarization feeds on hand; the use case for these specific feeds deals with a niche and unusual mission requirement based on known RF engineering limits of the Agilis 2431 antenna system.
2. I see that this SOL specifies SatLite, but wanted to know if this project was still open for bidding?
a. This requirement is still in the market research stage and has not opened for quotes. Please look for any updates that may come.
3. Question 4 of the Sources Sought asks “Is there a better solution to augment surveying construction sites for security concerns you would suggest?” As the solution is antenna feeds for an existing SatLite antenna, is this questioning whether there is a better solution than SATCOM?
a. The referenced question may have snuck in by mistake and therefore can be ignored.
4. The Sources Sought Document provides the deadline to submit questions no later than 2 May 2025 @ 9:00 AM MT but the following paragraph states to submit the information 30 April 2025 @ 12:00 PM MT. Does this mean the response date is not May 2 as stated on Sam.Gov and instead it is April 30th?
a. My apologies, I had the days and times backwards. The submission for questions deadline is 30 April 2025 by 12:00 P.M. Mountain Time and the Sources Sought closes on 2 May 2025 by 09:00 A.M. Mountain Time.
