1.2 Background

The standing seam metal roofing on these housing units are a critical system for maintaining them in good condition and securing the housing from the elements. All the roofs on the Coyote Loop houses and duplexes are original to the houses, built in the 1990s. Since several similar roofs are failing, all should be secured. High winds are common in Death Valley and will likely continue to impact these roofs. Additionally, a project to install photovoltaic panels on all these roofs is scheduled for later in the year and ensuring that the roofs are in good condition prior to that project is important.

1.3 Objective

The Park proposes to repair and replace 300 to 500 square feet of standing seam metal roof on CCQ339 in kind. The remaining eight houses on Coyote Loop do not have obvious signs of damage, but all the roofs in this area have similar construction and are of the same age and will be inspected. Additional standing seam metal roofing on these and other buildings on Coyote Loop may also need to be repaired or replaced in kind, pending the results of the inspection.

Part 2: Contract Items

2.1 Equipment Summary

Contractor shall provide all equipment necessary to complete work. No government furnished equipment shall be provided.

2.2 Tasks & Supplies

The task on CCQ339 is a roof replacement since the damage was beyond repair. A roofing inspection will be performed on roofs at CCQ334-342 to determine the condition of all roofs in Coyote Loop. A report of condition and recommendations will be prepared. Work shall be executed in conformance with the General Specifications, and metal roofing shall conform to Specification 07 41 13.

2.3 Contract Period and Options

All work should be completed within 60 days after notice to proceed.
