About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) and technical specifications document for the rehabilitation of a multipurpose building at Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge in Charlestown, Rhode Island. The project encompasses five primary work items: reroofing approximately 7,900 square feet of existing asphalt shingles with new GAF Timberline HDZ shingles (Class A, fire and wind resistant); power washing and sealing approximately 6,900 square feet of cedar siding with Seal It Green "Total Wood Armor" wood sealer; replacing four interior ceiling light fixtures with new LED pendant fixtures rated at 5,000 lumens; removing and replacing deteriorated plywood roof sheathing (estimated at 32 square feet, compensated at actual installed quantity); and removing and replacing a 16-foot by 32-foot concrete entrance slab with a new 4-inch thick slab on grade supported by a 6-inch thick compacted gravel base. All roofing materials must include ice and water leak barrier along eaves at four-foot distance and deck armor premium vapor barrier on remaining surfaces, with aluminum drip flashing conforming to ASTM B 209. The concrete slab requires a compressive strength of 4,000 psi at 28 days, Type II cement with air-entraining admixture, and welded wire fabric 6x6 reinforcement. All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician in compliance with the National Electrical Code.

The contract requires contractors to submit product literature and manufacturer certifications for roofing materials, cedar siding sealing products, light fixtures, plywood sheathing, and concrete mix design prior to installation. Work must be performed weekdays Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the facility continuing operations during contract performance. Contractors are responsible for compliance with all Federal, State, and Local safety regulations, including OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910 and 1926), daily cleanup of waste and rubbish, and final site restoration. Solar panels and associated railings must be removed before roofing installation and reinstalled upon completion. The quote schedule specifies lump sum pricing for items 1-3 and 5, and unit pricing per square foot for item 4 (plywood replacement). Site inspection can be arranged by contacting Karrie Schwaab at 401-364-9124.
