STATEMENT OF WORK

ANNUAL FIRE SUPPRESSION INSPECTIONS

Description of Work: This scope of work outlines the requirements for inspection and testing of fire protection systems for National Park Service assets/ facilities in accordance with applicable sections of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards.

Location: This project is located at Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Park Headquarters is located in Moose, WY and the nearest established community is Jackson, WY (16 miles). Fire Suppression Systems are located throughout the park at various districts: Moose (16 miles), Beaver Creek (19 miles), Moran (30 miles), Colter Bay (41 miles), Flagg Ranch (55 miles).

The Contractor(s) shall be qualified in the inspection and testing (i.e. Fire Suppression/ Fire Detection & Notification).

The Contractor(s) shall perform the inspection and testing of the fire protection systems identified in Attachment 1. This work shall be completed only by qualified personnel. Immediately following the inspection and testing, the Contractor shall complete and submit typed inspection forms (PDF Format) (which cover the minimum requirements of the NFPA forms) and any pertinent NFPA testing forms for each system. Contractor shall clearly document all deficiencies identified during inspection and testing on the typed forms for each system.

This work shall be based on the minimum annual requirements as outlined in applicable NFPA 25 and NFPA 72 and includes the following:

· Visually inspect for proper orientation, support, and clearance of all sprinkler heads and system piping that are readily viewable and accessible from the floor

· Perform main drain tests and record results to verify proper water volume and pressure is available for the sprinkler system

· Perform fire pump annual inspection and testing

· Lubricate valves

· Check alarm and supervisory devices to make sure proper annunciation and notification is indicated, if connected to the building alarm system

· Test flow switches by flowing water from the inspectors’ test connection

· Test tamper switches by exercising the valve through the full range of motion and verifying that signals are received at the fire alarm control panel

· Check fire department connections for proper caps and being unobstructed

· Check system gauge calibration date and verify the water pressure is adequate

· Check for proper signage on valves

· Inspect spare head box for proper inventory and condition of spare sprinkler heads and wrench

· Verify that all valves are in the proper position and sealed or supervised

· Verify signals are received at the central monitoring station if the system is monitored The contractor will be escorted by an NPS official to each location. Several of the locations will involve coordination with the residential community at each of the locations. In the past, an NPS official escorts the contractor through the South end of the park and then to the North end or vice versa. The COR will notify the contractor 2 weeks in advance on the anticipated start date to complete this project. Inspections generally occur in September or October of each calendar year.

Locations are subject to change by mutual agreement within the boundaries of GRTE.
