About this file

This document is a Calibration Standards Specification (CSS) for a Precision Pressure Calibrator (PPC) intended for use by Navy personnel in shore-based laboratories. The specification details comprehensive technical requirements for a pneumatic pressure calibration system, including precise performance standards, environmental conditions, reliability metrics, and maintenance provisions. Key technical specifications include a pressure range from vacuum to 10,000 psig, accuracy within ±0.025% of indicated value, a 5½ digit display resolution, and the ability to calibrate pressure transducers, gauges, and indicators using pneumatic media.

The specification mandates rigorous design and operational requirements, such as smart transducer technology, plug-and-play functionality, multiple pressure unit conversions, and a contamination prevention system with separate traps for clean and contaminated media. The PPC must meet military standards for environmental resilience, operating temperatures between 0-50°C, and withstand various humidity conditions. Additional requirements cover electrical power specifications, safety standards, digital interface compatibility (IEEE 488.2, Ethernet, USB), maintenance accessibility, and a minimum reliability of 10,000 operational hours for bench-top equipment with a 12-month calibration interval and 95% statistical certainty of performance.
