About this file
This is a Performance Work Statement for tree planting services in the Fort Yates area of North Dakota, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District (Solicitation W9128F26QA077).
The statement outlines requirements for professional tree planting services including site preparation, tree selection and procurement, planting operations, and post-planting maintenance. Key objectives include establishing native tree species suitable for the regional climate and soil conditions in the Fort Yates vicinity, with specific attention to survival rates and long-term establishment. The contractor must comply with environmental and safety standards applicable to Corps of Engineers projects and provide documentation of planting locations, species planted, and maintenance activities. The work statement specifies performance metrics for tree survival, establishes protocols for quality assurance inspections, and defines the contractor's responsibilities for site restoration and erosion control measures. Deliverables include as-built documentation, photographic evidence of completed work, and maintenance records throughout the contract performance period. The statement emphasizes coordination with Fort Yates local requirements and adherence to Corps engineering standards and specifications.

Washechek, Mark (CTR) - NRCS, Brookings, SD: TheWeb Soil Survey (WSS) can help you find your Conservation Tree and Shrub Group (CTSG) at https://websoilsurvey.sc.egov.usda.gov/App/WebSoilSurvey.aspx
How to determine the Conservation Tree and Shrub Group (CTSG) of the area where you wish to establish a windbreak.
Click on the WSS link to go to Web Soil Survey.
Use the Quick Navigation section or navigate by hand on the map by doing the following:
In Area of Interest Interactive Map section Click the + sign and the hand sign to zoom and move the map to the general area you are interested in.
Now click on the AOI rectangle. Drag and highlight the Aera of Interest of the approximate area of the windbreak to be planted.
Look in the yellow tabs at the top Click on Soil Map (you may want to print screen this map and its Map Unit Symbols (MUS) Click on Soil Data Explorer tab Look in the Second set of yellow tabs Click on Suitability’s and Limitations for Use tab Click Land Classifications Click Conservation Tree and Shrub Group Uncheck “Map” and “Description of Rating”, make sure “Table” is checked, check “Detailed description”.
Click view Rating You may want to screen print the table of MUS and Rating.
The rating is your CTSG that will be used in the Windbreak workbook.

Washechek, Mark (CTR) - NRCS, Brookings, SD: A Conservation Tree/Shrub Group (CT/SG) is a physiographic unit or area having similar climatic and soil characteristics that control the selection and height growth of trees and shrubs. All soil map units are placed in one of 10 main groups. See WSS link above to determine the CTSG.
Mark: If this box is checked the sheet will evaluate the selected species to determine if it is recommended in the "Expected tree and shrub heights at 20 years" table for the CTSG and MLRA selected. The result will be placed in column H. Red x means No, Green check means yes. Any species you change using the "Add or edit species list" will have a red x because your new name is not in the "20 year table". Make sure you have a Row Number entered in column F and the appropriate MLRA selected in D2. Use the MLRA button to select the MLRA where the windbreak will be planted.
