About this file

This document contains a banned construction materials list for a federal contract opportunity to construct a 30 meter internal climbing sampling tower at the Mauna Loa Observatory. The banned construction materials list outlines chemicals that are prohibited for use in the construction project, including chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, hydrofluorocarbons, halons, chlorocarbons, bromocarbons, iodocarbons, and several other compounds. Common applications of these banned compounds in construction that are prohibited include insulation materials containing HCFCs, spray-can dusters, and certain solvents, sealants, adhesives that use prohibited chemicals. The federal contract opportunity is solicited by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration within the Department of Commerce to construct a 30 meter internal climbing sampling tower at the Mauna Loa Observatory as outlined in the attached SF-1449 and solicitation documents.
