About this file
This document is a specification and questionnaire from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Bureau of Business Services, seeking a multiple segment snow plow blade system for the Division of Highways Operations. The specification covers an 11-foot segmented snow plow blade system, requiring at least eleven individual replaceable blade segments with tungsten carbide cutting surfaces. Bidders must submit detailed documentation including bid documents, specification questionnaires, shop drawings, and descriptive literature. The solicitation emphasizes that manufacturers must have been actively producing snow plow blades for at least 4 years, with service available within Illinois, and bids will only be accepted from established manufacturers or their authorized dealers.
The specification outlines specific technical requirements for the snow plow blade system, including mounting systems with elastic materials to reduce shock and vibration, 100% recyclable parts, and optional accessories such as curb runners and nose pieces. Additional requirements include a minimum two-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and the ability to replace individual blade segments. Service and parts availability will be a factor in award determination, with successful bidders expected to provide prompt service and parts replacement. The document does not specify a specific budget or funding source but indicates that serviceability and technical compliance will be key factors in vendor selection.
