The National Park Service strives to support urban projects in Richmond, Virginia. These projects provide urban dwellers and people who live in socio or economically disadvantaged urban communities with the support, knowledge and means to experience the outdoors and build relevancy for all Americans, connecting with their lives where they live. It can also show citizens how to utilize their communities’ diversities to expand a network of similar goals and experiences. Richmond, Virginia is one of 10 cities which were chosen to serve as model cities in initiating the Urban Fellow program in 2016.
