About this file

This document is a Special Provision for Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (Item 9000-0012) for the City of Pittsburgh's Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, specifically related to the Stanton Ave/McCandless Ave Stairs Construction project. The document outlines the contractor's responsibilities for traffic management, including developing a Traffic Control Plan that must be signed and sealed by a Transportation Professional and submitted to the City for approval. Key requirements include providing two weeks advance notice to multiple city departments and services, obtaining an obstruction permit, and maintaining traffic flow on Stanton Avenue and McCandless Avenue during construction, with specific lane and bike lane maintenance provisions.

The traffic management plan allows for potential lane restrictions during construction hours with representative approval, and includes a provision for a potential full closure of McCandless Avenue to accommodate crane operations for setting precast elements. The payment for these traffic control services will be handled as a Lump Sum (LS), covering all materials and labor required for installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices. The contractor is responsible for coordinating with nearby construction activities, securing necessary permits, and ensuring minimal disruption to existing traffic patterns while facilitating the stair construction project.
