About this file
This attachment outlines heat protection safety requirements for the Construction of the Meyergrove Stormwater Detention Basin - Phase 2 project being executed for the Harris County Flood Control District in Texas. The document mandates that all contractors include comprehensive weather-related safety provisions in their project Safety Plan, with particular emphasis on protecting workers from heat-related and cold-related illnesses. The requirements specify that when temperatures or heat index values exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the Prime Contractor must develop and implement a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan that includes provisions for worker acclimatization, water access, adequate rest periods, and shaded areas.
The Prime Contractor is required to provide accommodations to workers as deemed necessary during extended periods of adverse weather conditions. Vendors acknowledge their agreement to comply with these heat protection safety requirements upon signing the Bid Acknowledgement at the time of bid submission. This safety guidance applies to all weather-related conditions throughout the execution of work and is a binding contractual obligation for all bidders on this FEMA-funded project.
