Photographs of the identified deficiencies from the May 16, 2024 biennial water tank inspection that are to be corrected under this contract and statement of work. The photographs will replace the need for drawings, as the only drawings that exist are the construction drawings, which do not reflect the current OSHA requirement and other current applicable codes.
Photo shows the tank has only one grounding assembly. NFPA 780-2020;
7.3.7.3(3) states, “A tank shall be grounded though a minimum of two (2) grounding electrodes.” We recommend installing an additional grounding as-sembly.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 1
Photo shows the condition of the windage rods. The windage rods are designed to resist and stabilize the tower structure against wind and seismic loads com-bined with dead and live loads. The rods should withstand 100 mph winds blow-ing from any direction. We recommend adjusting the windage rods, as needed, to withstand 100 mph winds blowing from any direction, as required by AWWA D100-21; 3.1.4 Wind load.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 2
Photos show the 10” overflow pipe system, which is not equipped with a flapper valve as required by AWWA D100-21; 5.3: Overflow. We recommend installing a flapper valve and new screen on the existing overflow pipe elbow.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 3
Photo shows the condition of the tower access standoff platform. We recom-mend installing a 42” high OSHA compliant handrail system, complete with an swing gate, intermediate rail and toeboard.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 4
Photo shows the condition of the strut end connections. We recommend rein-forcing the strut ends by welding.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 5
Photo shows where water is ponding on the balcony floor, causing deterioration of the paint and steel. We recommend drilling additional weep holes in the bal-cony floor to prevent ponding of water.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 6
Photos show the condition of the existing 24” roof vent. AWWA D100-21; 5.5 states, “When the vent is provided with screening against insects, a pressure-vacuum-screened vent or a separate pressure-vacuum relief mechanism shall be provided that will operate in the event that the screens frost over or become clogged.” This vent is allowing the ingress of rain and wind-borne contaminants into the water system. We recommend replacing the existing roof vent with a vacuum-pressure, frost proof vent and screen.
This work should be performed on an emergency basis.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 7
Photo shows mixing system on tank interior, which appears to be in good condi-tion.
STATEMENT OF WORK: TASK 8
Photo shows sediment in the tank. We recommend performing a dry interior cleanout in order to prevent contamination issues associated with excessive sediment buildup.
This work should be performed on an emergency basis.
*Please note price for interior cleanout is based on removing 1” – 3” of sediment. In the event the tank has to be drained, tank will need to be drained by the owner, prior to our arrival.
Due to slope of the tank, a robotic in-service cleanout cannot be per-formed.
