About this file

This is a Job Specification document for repair and preservation work on a 54-foot Dive Boat located at Sasebo. The work involves comprehensive freeboard and underwater hull repairs with an anticipated award date of June 30, 2026, and production completion by October 30, 2026, with a performance period from February 20, 2026 to December 30, 2026. The specification outlines extensive structural repairs and preservation requirements throughout the vessel, including replacement of damaged hull plating in various sections (bottom shell, deck, port/starboard sides, forward and aft ends totaling approximately 260 square feet), fabrication and installation of two flange plates for the diver platform using CRES 304 material, two lock pads for hatches in mild steel, and fifty linear feet of half-pipe fenders in 6-inch and 8-inch nominal pipe size.

The preservation work encompasses 3,480 square feet across multiple critical areas: 1,200 square feet of underwater hull, 800 square feet of freeboard above the boottop, 590 square feet of exterior deck, 730 square feet of exterior hull above the deck, and 160 square feet of interior pilot house deck. Work requirements include marine growth removal and cleaning, visual inspection with ultrasonic thickness readings, nondestructive testing of welded joints, welding and vee-out of damaged seams per standard specifications, air pressure testing of watertight boundaries and half-pipe fenders, surface preparation to SSPC standards with multiple cleaning methods for inaccessible areas, and application of preservation coatings per detailed painting schedules. The government provides all materials including structural steel plates, pipes, welding electrodes, and corrosion preventive compound; the contractor is responsible for waste disposal in accordance with Japanese Environmental Governing Standards and must coordinate with the ship's Damage Control Assistant for stability and safety during operations.
